About Us

The Global Center for Health Diplomacy and Inclusion (CeHDI) is a non-profit organization dedicated to using evidence-based approaches build robust strategic partnerships among like-minded countries and promote and actively drive sustainable and collaborative change for Global Health Equity and the Right to Health. CeHDI is currently undertaking a project to analyze how the Universal Periodic Review (UPR), a unique process involving a review of the human rights records of all UN Member States, has addressed the right to health. To support this work, CeHDI is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Research Assistant to contribute to key project activities. Purpose/Objective of the Assignment The primary objective of this assignment is to provide research support to the project team. The Research Assistant will be instrumental in processing and analyzing UPR documentation, helping to build a comprehensive evidence base on how the UPR mechanism addresses and advances issues related to the right to health.

Your Role

The Research Consultant will work under the direct supervision of the Project Lead and will be responsible for the following tasks: Develop a strong foundational understanding of the UPR, including the thematic classification and evaluate the quality and implementation of the recommendations. The Research Consultant will also assist with the cleaning, management, and quality control of the project's dataset as well as contributing to the descriptive analysis of findings as required for reports and publications. The Research Assistant will report directly to the Project Lead for the UPR and the Right to Health Project. Regular check-in meetings will be scheduled to discuss progress, challenges, and upcoming tasks. The Research Assistant will be expected to provide brief monthly progress updates summarizing activities completed and deliverables submitted.

Key Responsibilities

  • Refined Recommendation Dataset: An updated and validated dataset of UPR recommendations with detailed sub-theme classifications, evaluation of recommendation quality, and evaluation of recommendations implementation.
  • Contribution to Final Outputs: Input into project outputs, including for reports and publications, as directed by the Project Lead.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field such as Public/Global Health, Human Rights, International Law, International Relations, Political Science, or Global Development.

Experience and Skills

  • Experience:
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting academic or policy-oriented research.
  • Knowledge of global health issues, particularly sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and/or maternal health, is an advantage.
  • Proven experience with qualitative and/or quantitative data analysis, including literature reviews and document analysis, is an advantage.
  • Specific knowledge and familiarity of the UPR process is a strong asset.
  • Skills
  • Excellent analytical and written communication skills in English.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly MS Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently to meet deadlines.

Education

Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field such as Public/Global Health, Human Rights, International Law, International Relations, Political Science, or Global Development.

Salary and Benefits

Remuneration will be commensurate with experience and education. Expected Start Date: As soon as possible.
